Northern Cardinal
This species of bird was named after the red robes worn by Roman Catholic cardinals. The male sports brilliant red feathers, while the female has a light brown body with red on her crest, wings, and tail. Both sexes have a beautiful song and sing year-round.
The young fledgling cardinal pictured left was released about a month after the picture shown here was taken.
